bicubic/bilinear image resize in flashPost #1

Hi,

I've got this dynamic resizing problem in Flash. An image should dynamicly be resized according to the browser's size without losing quality. If you resize an MC with an image in the standard way, the image gets screwed up due to a bad resizing algorythm.

Now, group94, a well known Flash design company has many examples it is possible to do so on the fly, without losing quality. An example can be found here http://www.manipulator.com/ Browse towards some photos and resize your browser to see how the photo changes accordingly without getting messed up. How is it possible to resize like that? I've tried exporting my JPEGs to SWF and load the SWFs instead. Same problem. Anybody got an idea?

Thanks,

Thomas

If you look good they will not be stretched.
They resize in a lower dimension.

Altough my resolution can't be set higher as 1300 r smt, i can't check that good.

If the image will be stretched, i am sure they saved it a very good format:
Something like 4:3.

Greetz://

Thanks, however,

Someone who knew it told me the solution. If anyone ever wants to apply it:

movieclip._quality = "BEST";

whereas movieclip is the MC holding the image.

cheers,

Thomas

what you said isn't working for me...Post #4

i've been trying to solve the same problem but your solution doesn't seem to be working for me.

to test it out i made a quick flash file with one movieclip and did this:

movie_clip.loadMovie("blah.jpg");
movie_clip._quality = "BEST";

there's no difference in quality with or without the second line...
please help me, thomastorfs!
